Jury

The international jury of the 6th edition of AWDA, Aiap Women in Design Award consists of nine major figures in the field of visual communication design and from all over of the world. Within it, in addition to delegates from AIAP the Italian Association of Visual Communication Design, and independent figures, the countries involved are represented thanks to ICoD, International Council of Design. For this edition, the international 'Collaborating Partners' are: AIGA San Diego Tijuana, Grafia - Association of Visual Communication Designers in Finland, TDRI - Taiwan Design Research Institute. A parallel panel of five judges, prominent figures in the fields of research, teaching, and criticism will evaluate the works in the Researchers category. A scientific committee will award a Lifetime Achievement Award which may also be a Career Award for Historic Achievement.

 

Jury decisions taken by the majority of members are unquestionable and will be reported in a record filed with Aiap and put online on the AWDA website.

She has also driven public innovation projects spanning healthcare, transportation, tourism, and urban aesthetics, and oversees major design platforms including the Taiwan Design Expo.     Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI)

    2020 is the founding year of the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI), the TDRI plans to consolidate public resources from a wide range of government agencies with “the power of design,” promoting design as a central governance value and as a national defense strategy. The Institute is expected to guide the sustainable development of industries and society, which should in turn improve the living quality of the general public. It can assist the government in making national design policy and increasing governance efficiency.     Born in Berlin, he lives and works in Paris and Marseille. As a designer and visual artist, he runs a graphic design studio specialising in visual identity, poster design, and site-specific typographic work for cultural institutions, local authorities, and public bodies, with a particular focus on design in urban spaces. He acquired his early experience in France as part of the Grapus collective. At the same time, he founded his experimental collective, Agrafmobile, as a mobile visual theatre to explore urban spaces and everyday environments.
    He is a member of the AGI, was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Research at Art and Design Colleges within the Ministry of Culture and Communication, and of the Scientific Advisory Board of Le Signe, the National Centre for Graphic Design. He was also involved in establishing the Graphic Design Department at the École supérieure d’art visuel in Morocco.

    Grafia is an association for visual communication designers which aims to promote knowledge and understanding of the industry and to safeguard the professional, legal and financial interests of its members. The association was founded in 1933. Grafia’s members are communication and design professionals.
    The organisation has over 1,300 members and a nine-member board. Grafia’s member activities are largely funded through Kopiosto’s copying licence remunerations. Grafia uses the funds to provide grants, information, training, copyright advice and lawyers services. grafia.fi

    Designer and creative director of the studio that bears her name, she develops visual communication projects with an approach focused on experimenting with languages and generating creative processes capable of bringing about new forms of change. Since 2005, she has taught communication design and graphic design. She currently teaches at Istituto Europeo di Design_IED Florence, where she leads courses dedicated to editorial design and contemporary visual culture.
    She curates and organises exhibitions, workshops and cultural initiatives related to graphic design, with particular attention to traditional printing techniques and manual printing. Co-curator of Design Pinetum, a programme dedicated to discovering young talents, she regularly collaborates with scientific committees, interdisciplinary committees and juries focused on design for visual communication.
